Katie Bullimore
I’m an illustrator and painter from Gravesend, Kent. During my degree I discovered the joy and simplicity of digital work and favoured Procreate, but since graduating I’ve reconnected with traditional mediums. When in doubt my art has always reverted to exploring memory and nostalgia. For me it’s always been a visual exploration of things that only exist in photos now; like me as a baby, and my dad with the hair line of a young man. This is the closest I will ever come to interacting with those people who no longer exist in that way, and that’s the importance of creating. The challenge of trying to make an item or image not just look like the real thing, but also look how it feels in my head is what I enjoy. I want my work to look like a memory. My portfolio features a lot of digital work for the publishing market, but recently I’ve enjoyed rediscovering paints, coloured pencil and drawing inks.
